Parkway Construction Delays, including Edgewood Avenue Detour

I-376 Section A38 - Parkway East Edgewood / Swissvale to Churchill.

The project limits are between the Edgewood/Swissvale Exit and SR Business Route 22 Exit on the Parkway East.

It is contractor’s intent to start the construction phase of this project on March 31, 2008 and continuing thru November 30, 2008. The majority of the work is performed on weeknights and weekends.  

March 31st to April 4th - During the first week of April, work will begin on Braddock Avenue between the hours of 7 pm and 6 am. Parking will be redistricted from 6 pm to 6 am. This work will consist of new pavement placement on Braddock Avenue between the Parkway ramps and the City of Pittsburgh border. Braddock Avenue will be restricted to a single lane.

Work will also begin on the West, or inbound side of the 376 Parkway East during the hours of 9 pm to 5 am to perform concrete roadway work and other miscellaneous operations.

April 4th & 5th - Starting the weekend of April 4, 2008 at 9 pm, Trumbull Corporation intends to close the West, or inbound side of the 376 Parkway East between Churchill and Edgewood / Swissvale to perform various concrete operations.

• Detour - In place from the Churchill exit, down Penn Avenue to Braddock Avenue. After turning left on Braddock Avenue, the detour will continue down to the Parkway ramps in the boroughs of Swissvale and Edgewood.

Also during the weekend of April 4, the contractor intends to close Edgewood Avenue over top of the parkway to perform various concrete structure and deck repairs.

• Swissvale Side Detour - Use Edgewood Avenue to Columbia Avenue, then Westmoreland Avenue, to South Braddock. After reaching South Braddock Avenue the detour takes motorist past the Edgewood Town Center to Greendale Avenue. Take Greendale Avenue to Race Street. Race Street takes motorist back to Edgewood Avenue.

• Edgewood Side Detour - Use the same routes in reverse except for using West Swissvale Avenue from Race Street down to South Braddock Avenue.

During the next several weeks, the contractor will continue to have nightly & weekend operations on the Parkway during the 9 pm to 5 am hours during the week and continuously on the weekends; lane restrictions during week days and closures implemented on weekends.
